Maddie tells Llewellyn a secret

I asked Llewellyn if she wouldn't mind trying on her swimsuit, make sure it fits. It came part of Julies 2 in 1 Summer set - including the two piece swimsuit, flip flops, sunnies and towel, with the roller skate outfit - skates, shorts and hooded top.

 It ties around the neck,

and pair of pants.

Maddie (BFC ink) is coming to Hawaii with me, and she suggested after learning that American Girl had opened a temporary store in Oahu that it would be a really good idea to bring an American Girl along. It may be my only chance to ever get to a store, and to not take one of the girls along would be a shame.  I asked who Maddie thought we should take, she reckoned first girl should go first time. Maddie herself is a first girl, and I think I have a soft spot for firsties (the ones that have stayed).

Maddie breaks the news..

Hey Llew, you know how Kaffum and I are going to Hawaii soon
Yep

and that your favourite brand has opened a store there just last month
Yep, so cool, I have a list
Well...

we want you to come with us
What!
mhm
Hoh

Woohoo

Josefina becomes a toy

Josefina Maria Montoya Nash, the name I had decided she to have is a Pleasant Company version, the stamp on the nape of her neck, the tag free body, the soft eye lashes, and she came to me mint in box, had only been a display item.  She is so beautiful.
I prefer to have play dolls than display dolls, yes it will affect their resale value, but I don't buy with the intent of reselling, I buy them because I like them and want to give them things, and dress them up and do hair, and free them from the bondage of the box.
Anywho, you already know that I dressed her in warmer attire over winter (shirt and tights), and with much guilty feeling ruined her original leather like shoes. I've since noticed that there is a slight discolouration on her ankles due to those shoes, I haven't been able to get the lighting right to show you a picture - its like she's got a tide mark. (Is anyone else starting to get very paranoid about their dolls and colour transfer? Is it only American Girl dolls that have this problem?) Spring arrived and the winter attire was a little over the top, so I thought to try some other clothes on Jo.

Caroline's travel dress

Felicity's dress with choker

and without

and the American Girl Snowflake Jumper outfit (from 1997)

Jo looks great in all the outfits, but I decided to stick with Caroline's dress. She is wearing Our Generation shoes - Jo's feet are a little bigger than the Mattel dolls

this is Jo's foot on the right, Llewellyn's on the left (Julie - her previous owner had given her red nail polish, it has flaked off, and I haven't quite worked out how to remove the rest safely)

Our Generation boots, and the American Girl skateboard shoes - they were really tight on Llewellyn, no go for Jo

With that little bit of play, and the marvellousness of velcro, Jo's hair still in its original plait, was starting to look a little messy.  I had taken her original blue ribbon with yellow flowers off, and replaced it with a red ribbon to match Caroline's dress

the pictures aren't showing it, but there is hair sticking out everywhere.
So I thought to tidy it up a bit. These shots are a last look at a perfect tail end...

So after much debate I undid and brushed her hair. The rubber band that was under the ribbon and flower fell apart in my hands at the slightest pull. Her hair was oh so nice to brush, a little hair fall, and I tried to keep it in the 3 parts for replaiting, finding like trying to restock a trolley after its been through the checkout that the make up brush tail was never to return (no one has perfect ends on a pony tail anyway). And so after I believe 17 years of being a shelf ornament, Jo became a toy...

Beckie for Peggy

When my sister agreed to help me blog with a doll in public back in July she had mentioned the possibility of wanting to have a doll at her place.
It was originally thought to try and give her one of my BFC ink dolls, but Peggy had mentioned the doll looking somewhat like her.  The BFC ink girls don't quite match - curly brown hair and green eyes was what I was thinking of, there is the green eyes, the wavy brown hair, but not on the one girl.
With my recent addiction to American Girl, it was becoming more and more obvious who fit this bill...

she arrived today, and even though she's going again, I got the thrill of the unboxing

love bubble wrap

pair of glasses (my sis has) and a pair of sunnies

An Egyptian Mummy

It's Rebecca.
She is gorgeous.
The Pink dress is a Dolly and Me creation, and not wishing to risk the colour transfer curse, the dress has been removed.

I'd originally planned to include glasses with the doll that I gave my sister- even had them picked out (they were Our Generation green ones with glitter), but these ones, and I think they may be American Girl, are just perfect.

Beckie, is wearing I believe her genuine Panties - I'd wondered whether she would be wearing any so had a pair of handmade undies on stand by (she is wearing these under the panties now in case Peggy wants a more modern girl), and these shoes and socks. I think these shoes are from the Hannukah outfit.  I have ordered a pair of look alike Rebecca's meet boots (two tone button up), they just haven't arrived yet. These shoes though are really nice, have a little heel, and there is elastic hidden under bow, to help with putting them on and off.

When I bought the doll who became Anne Shirley, she was wearing a white petticoat, and came with Rebecca's meet dress. I decided to keep these items for the Peggy Beckie, and here she is. I have not been able to find out if a New in Box Rebecca is wearing a petticoat, but this one will be (obviously its under her dress). She's had her hair brushed, I found a hair clip, and well, I guess next step is introducing her to her new mum.

Peggy is a Science Teacher... hmm a little AG science kit.... ooh and if going Modern I have a spare Our Generation Laptop...

The Mischief of Miss Trinity

By the time I made it outside after clearing a path through the leftovers from Trinity's crafting, Trinity had the kite in the air....

Let's Go Fly a KiteFrom "Mary Poppins"
Composed by Robert B. Sherman and Richard M. Sherman
With tuppence for paper and strings
You can have your own set of wings
With your feet on the ground
You're a bird in flight
With your fist holding tight
To the string of your kite

Oh, oh, oh
Let's go fly a kite
Up to the highest height
Let's go fly a kite
And send it soaring
Up through the atmosphere
Up where the air is clear
Oh, let's go fly a kite

Let's go fly a kite
Up to the highest height
Let's go fly a kite
And send it soaring
Up through the atmosphere
Up where the air is clear
Oh, let's go fly a kite

When you send it flying up there
All at once you're lighter than air
You can dance on the breeze over houses and trees
With your fist holding tight
To the string of your kite

O, oh, oh
Let's go fly a kite
Up to the highest height
Let's go fly a kite
And send it soaring
Up through the atmosphere
Up where the air is clear
Oh, let's go fly a kite

These flowers are white from a climbing plant that looks like a huge brides bouquet.

Even the new leaves on this tree were pink

Ahhh, a rest in the shade in a field of pink daisies.
