Testing Journey Girls things, part 1, accessory pack

It was sunny, the cats, who are indoor critters (except Albert he sometimes comes outside with me to help mow the lawn), certified it so.

I had a lay-by since January with Toys'r'us that I was able to pay out this week, so with help from Journey Girls Chavonne, and My American Girl Mercedes we thought to test the new arrivals outside in the glorious weather.

Chavonne's first pick...
An accessory pack

She was desperate to try on a more reliable pair of shoes, these sandals withe the scrunchy strap keep falling off at the slightest movement

So we have a scarf, it is velcroed at the back, helps keep it on

stick em up

a cap. with Chavonne's curly hair it did not want to sit down

even with the bit of elastic

Mercedes had a go, very snug, but it fit.

diamonds on the toes of her shoes
Shoes, these wont fall off in a hurry

with a silver satchel handbag,
Chavonne's off to buy the coat sighted this past week, as prompted by the box picture

A little light on the subject

Mercedes loves to read, she is getting through her library of Harry Potter at the moment. She has found her eyes are getting tired though, and even though her room has lights, it's not enough.
So lucky, in the Reject Shop we found a lamp.

Perfect

Now on to The Order of the Phoenix

New things seen this week: Journey Girls and Our Generation

Toys'r'us

The accessory set has been around for a while (at least January, I've got one on lay-by), whilst this coat was first noticed by me this week.

I am pretty sure it is this coat seen on the promo pic on the accessory box. The coat is London, the accessory Rome

Jordana is so pretty

and in David Jones (posh department store, almost too posh for a toy department (it has shrunk to a few shelves near the lift, sigh, in my teens we would go to DJ's with my mother on a Saturday morning (mmm morning tea vanilla milkshakes and toasted chicken sandwiches) and visit the toy department, it was big, and we could have spent all day there I reckon, my brother and I, except that shops in those days shut at lunchtime on a Saturday and didn't open again until Monday morning)

This is gorgeous

This is still pending opinion.

When I noticed the price, I quickly popped in at Kmart on my way back to work, but they still had the same outfits from before.

After the Storm Part 2

Llewellyn and Miriam were so glad it had stopped raining, and wanted to go outside for a bit.
It was still very wet though.

The water guage was full, well as full as it could be with a crack in it, but it was way past the 6 inch marker.  The Turtle pond was also full, behind the blown over plant the edge was lower so the excess water was flowing out.  But the turtles didn't seem to care, and General Sherman (the catfish) didn't mind much either.

All the tubs were full too.

You drying out Tyrion?
Oooooooo, scratch please

The front path was under water, Mirian noticed the high tide mark though on the verandeh wall, the water was receding.

The girls asked if we could go for a drive around, so we went to the local Dam.

Who is George Schroder? Does he play piano on the Peanuts?
No thats Schroeder, this man was an engineer for the Hunter District Water Board (I had to google that so this conversation kind of took place, then and later on)

The Dam looks pretty full

The blue line says its at top level

The park the pumping station is in, does have play equipment, but well it looked a big bit wet as well, so we had a nosey about one of the massive trees that had been felled by the storm.

Miriam decided to climb the fallen trunk

Llewellyn was impressed by the rings of the trunk

and the hole left behind
I wonder if Alice and the White Rabbit are down there?

And well we went home very shortly after this as someone tried to jump a puddle, and we'll just say it was a bit slippery.

An outfit for Natasha

So as not to leak the surprise, this post has been waiting for me to deliver the Winter outfit for Natasha. Natasha is my sister Peggy's American Girl doll.
When the weather had started to retreat from Summer and creep up on Autumn, I had sent a message to ask what Natasha would like to wear. I interpreted - layers and boots to be...

A pair of tights with toes (pantihose), a white under shirt, a pair of jeans, a stripey tee, a green jacket, a pair of boots, a hat and a scarf. The gloves, hmm, they were delayed but matched the hat and scarf, I forgot to photograph them.

Pantihose made from knee high human socks. (Very easy, put the sock on the doll, work out how long you want it, take off the doll, sew the toes, a seam up the middle and back again and the other toe, then cut it out)

A long sleeve white tee shirt
(I think I got this off Ebay,  Funny Funny Store. They are really well made, and come in a range of colours)

Jeans, these are actually black, the flash has just washed them out a little, also off Ebay, but from Neatncheap

A stripey long sleeve tee, this is actually a Pumpkin Patch Teddy item.

A Pea coat, in black and green, also from Ebay Neatncheap

A pair of high boots, buttoned, and velcroed - the seam is at the back for the velcro, furry on the inside.
The hat and scarf are crocheted by me.

Hopefully I'll see Natasha (and Peggy) in a couple of weeks, and if she's wearing any of it I'll try to remember to take a pic.
