The dollhouse makeover, the twins

Once I was a bedroom with an ensuite.
Kmart wardrobe with a little retrimming to match the wallpaper. Journey girls trundle bed, the easiest space savingest bed for two (the twins don't like being too far apart), Journey girls storage tower with bedside table.

Table made from the stem of a candleholder and a glass plate. Two steel decor chairs (recycled from the BFC ink garage sale) with a doily I've had for ages (pre2000), as tablecloth, a little red glass canister, I removed the lid to become a vase, flowers and a bowl of cherries (I think they were Xmas decorations).

Our Zgeneration red kitchen

The island is made from two craft wood boxes with hinged lids, I've added a shelf in each of them and stuck a piece of MDF on top.

Utensil rack (piece of wood with nails) a home decr 4 drawer (hmm might need to give it more colour). The saucepans and utensils were st kmart , and a teeny little chocolate grater.

Trinity, Llewellyn, Miriam and of course Pudding, have been helping me to put the final touches on the top floor room. Oh, Lawrie helped too, thanks Llew, oh, when he wasn't staring at you.
What?
Miriam said she thinks he has a crush on you.
Don't be silly, he's only a little boy.
Meh well, just saying. Trin whatcha got there?
My Welcome home Grace Thomas sign.

Do you want a fresh piece of paper?
No this will do. I'll just make an adjustment

Miriam went to get the girls.

Because I'm highly skilled in blindfolding people to walk the plank.
What's going on? Bridget asked.

We would like to know, said Bryndl.
Ahar, you shall see shortly. In the meantime
Ow
Whoop watch out for snags.

Nearly there.

Surprise.

Even though you're girl of the year and get replaced on January 1, we would like you to stay with us.  This is your new room.

Yay.

There's just this big bit of space here we didn't know what to do with.

Hey Bridge, said Bryndl.
Hey Bryn, said Bridget.
Are you thinking what I'm thinking, they said together. Hey Catherine can we....

Grace's me, Bridget and Bryndl

So these are my girls, Bridget and Bryndl
No I'm Bryndl
I'm Bridget
Oh sorry, that's right, left, Bridget is wearing the bow earrings, she's on the right, and Bryndl the hearts, on the left.
We really want to wear the same, Catherine, it really is a strange feeling to look too different.
I know, I'm sorry, I'll hopefully work it out soon.
We might be able to help out a little bit.

My side bang but is not very thick.
Oh okay Bridget.
No I'm Bryndl.
Ah! ok, Brydnl thin bang

And mine is thicker.
Oh, okay Br..idget, thick bang. How did that happen?
I got mine done first.
I got mine done second, but the hairdresser ran out of time.
So Bryndl's is not as thick, and well, after it was done, we were not sure we really liked it anyway and didn't want to do it all together on Bryndl's
So we left it alone, and plan to brush it into our hair, when we brush the plait out.
Oh, but then it will still not make the discerning any easier.

Hmm, hey Bryndl, we could tell her about your you know what
Oh, okay, Bridget.

I have a foot freckle

The bands holding their plaits were a different colour, Bridgets was black, Bryndl's clear

Bridget undid her plait, I really like it

a storm approaching

we went inside, and gave the girls a pony tail

Grace's me, outfit copies

Grace Thomas' Sightseeing outfit
I think I showed my take on Grace's outfits a few posts ago, and was going to show you how they looked on.  I need to double check what I did about shoes, cos I still don't have them - probably got distracted by some Lego along the way

Found these on Ebay - I think they are known as generi-dresses, but they were good for the purpose, the skirt has a fine net overlay with white dots

the top, the real version is shorter sleeved and lighter fabric, and there are a load of sequins in the black neck line, I was making these in winter, for winter, so they are 8ply wool (nylon) and long sleeved
The girls are wearing white canvas shoes, intended for another outfit I had my eyes on, totally unGrace, better check I did do that, I'm sure I was planning these in July.

I didn't have sequins, so for a bit of sparkle I crocheted these silver beads into the top, and sewed on a little panda charm

To go with the Panda that lives on the red cape. Panda head used to live on some baby's socks, and had a rattle in it, I removed the rattle and the slit in the back of panda head is perfect..

to fit over the black button that helps keep the cape on

Grace's City Outfit:

Winter version: long sleeve turtle neck t shirt
red jumper with 'laugh' and a big smiley face button
a red adjustable bow tie perfect for a head band
and a pair of black/gray/silver trousers
The girls are wearing the grey Grace meet boots

Cousins in the sun

What do these 5 girls have in common?

They are cousins by face mold.

When I first seriously started looking at American Girl dolls, this was the face mold that caught my eye most. American Girl when it was owned by Pleasant Company released this face mold in 1997. American Girl wiki has a good description of the mold, and a list of the dolls released that are using it
